Quality & Standards

Built for standards — reviewed by practitioners.

Every course we publish is researched, developed, reviewed and monitored against a documented process — and overseen by an independent Training Standards & Advisory Board.

Research

Written with the sector, not just for it.

Our content starts with the people doing the work. Before a course is written we gather current statutory guidance, inspection frameworks and sector research, then test what we find against the experience of practitioners in social care, education and children's services.

  1. 1 Statutory and regulatory sources. Current guidance, inspection frameworks and published standards for every sector we serve.
  2. 2 Practitioner input. Registered managers, social workers, foster carers and early years leads review scope and language before development begins.
  3. 3 Learner evidence. Assessment data, feedback and completion patterns from our own platform show us where understanding breaks down.
Development

How training is developed

Development follows a documented standard, so every course — online, virtual or at-venue — is built the same way and can be evidenced the same way.

01

Defined outcomes

Every course opens with outcomes written against the duties of a real role, not generic competencies.

02

Subject-matter authorship

Material is written or co-written by someone qualified and currently active in the relevant field.

03

Accessible by design

Plain English, consistent structure and assistive-technology support are build requirements, not later fixes.

04

Assessment that evidences

Questions map to outcomes, so a completion record stands as evidence of what was actually covered.

Development process

Eight stages to success — deployment is not the last one.

No course reaches a learner without completing every stage. Monitoring continues for as long as the course is live.

1

Needs Analysis

We establish exactly what the learning need is — from regulation, inspection findings or sector demand — before anything is written.

2

Evidence & Research

Current statutory guidance, inspection frameworks and sector research are gathered, checked and summarised.

3

Learning Architecture

Outcomes, structure and assessment are designed against the duties of a real role, not generic competencies.

4

Content Development

Material is written or co-written by someone qualified and currently active in the relevant field.

5

Expert Validation

Specialists and practitioners — including the Advisory Board — challenge scope, accuracy and language.

6

Quality Assurance

An independent check covers accessibility, plain English, assessment mapping and technical build quality.

7

Build & Deployment

The course is produced, tested across devices and released with a version record and a named reviewer.

8

Continuous Monitoring

Learner outcomes, feedback and sector changes are tracked; courses are revised or withdrawn as needed.

Advisory board

The Training Standards & Advisory Board

An independent group of senior practitioners and specialists who scrutinise what we publish. Members are appointed for their standing in the sector, and they are not employed by us.

The Board reviews material at the specialist review stage, challenges scope and accuracy, and advises on our quality standards. Where the Board asks for change, the course does not publish until that change is made.

Independent

Members are external to VTH and hold current roles in their own organisations.

Specialist

Each member covers named sectors and areas of expertise, published on their profile.

Accountable

Review decisions are recorded against the course they relate to.

Current

Profiles carry a review date, so what you read here is kept up to date.
